Build a 1:10 scale “Green Living Lab” demonstrator. A fully functional model building that combines sustainable construction with digital planning. The demonstrator is being created as part of the Erasmus+ project (EcoTwin-HED), which is coordinated by KIT. In parallel, a second demonstrator is being built at a partner university in Spain. Both buildings are equipped with sensor technology and linked to real-time data via a BIM-based digital twin.

The work is carried out in teams and is divided into two consecutive phases. In the CONCEPTION PHASE, an integrated planning concept is developed: architecture and construction, sustainability and energy concept. The outline concept for the sensor and data collection architecture is supported by the students of the seminar “AI-based Smart Home”.
In the REALISATION PHASE, the concept is subsequently built as a 1:10 building model, and the IoT sensor technology will be installed and calibrated.

Practical experience is gained in construction execution and digital twin applications. The results feed into an international research project. Prior knowledge of BIM, sensor technology, and sustainable building is welcome but not required.
