Description:
STEM education (which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is important in schools because it helps students to develop the skills needed to succeed in today's world. These skills include problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication. STEM education also helps students to learn about and to become interested in fields that are important for the future, such as technology and engineering. In Europe, STEM education is becoming increasingly important as the continent looks to remain competitive in a global economy that is being shaped by advances in science and technology.
Also, EU is facing an unparalleled shortage of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields as highlighted in the latest "She Figures” report: https://research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/news/all-research-and-innovation-news/towards-manifesto-gender-inclusive-steam-education-and-careers-2022-10-17_en#modal.
There are many skills that students can learn through STEM education that will make them more attractive to potential employers. Some of these skills include Problem-solving, Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, Leadership and Adaptability.
By focusing on these skills, students will become well-rounded and highly sought-after candidates in the job market.
On the other hand, there are several ways in which STEM education can benefit teachers in Europe: professional development, engaging students, collaboration and career advancement
Overall, STEM education can help teachers to become more effective educators and stay connected to the latest developments in their field.
Thanks to the previous project Bios4You (2019-1-DE03-KA201-060125) and ist results by the consortium of partners the Bios4you AR 2.0 will foster the main topic above mentioned and will create more detailed content expanding the horizon in school STEM subjects by creating specific modules and expanding the network in Europe regarding STEM topics.
Objective:
The main objectives of the Bios4You AR 2.0 project are to sensitise young students to STEAM issues related to Bio- Sciences, Bio-Engineering, Bio-Architecture, Bio-Technology, Bio-Photonics, etc... and create innovative educational materials thanks to the use of new AR technologies in such a way as to make all much more engaging both from the point of view of learning and teaching by teachers. By utilising new AR technologies to create innovative educational materials that are engaging and interactive, the project is helping to enhance the digital literacy and competencies of students and teachers enabling them to more effectively use technology and digital tools in their learning and teaching practices.
The specific objectives are:
To create interactive educational materials that make learning about Bio-Sciences, Bio-Engineering, Bio-Architecture, Bio- Technology, and Bio-Photonics more engaging and interactive for young students.
To use AR technology to create virtual lab simulations and other interactive learning experiences that allow students to experiment with and learn about different scientific concepts and principles.
To develop educational games and activities that use AR technology to make learning about STEM subjects more fun and engaging.
To use AR technology to create educational materials that will be used by teachers in their classrooms, helping them to make their lessons more interactive and engaging.
To increase awareness and understanding of STEM subjects among young students (above all girls) and encourage them to pursue careers in these fields.
